2007 Microsoft Office OPK and MLK (how to sell OEM)

Preinstallation Kits are officially called Microsoft Office OPK Master Kits. If you plan to sell 2007 Microsoft Office suites, you’ll need to order the Microsoft Office OPK Master Kit.

OPK Master Kits include the master software images to preinstall on the systems you build, and are essential for you to be able to sell 2007 Microsoft Office Medialess License Kits.

There are two separate Microsoft Office OPK Master Kits:

1.     Business* and Home and Student 2007

2.     Ultimate 2007 (available Spring 2007)

*Microsoft Office Business suites consist of Basic 2007, Small Business 2007, and Professional 2007.

 

 

When you receive your Preinstallation Kit, it is sealed with the OEM Partner License Agreement and number on the outside. By opening this Kit you are agreeing to the licensing terms and conditions as set forth in the terms and conditions.

When there is a service pack release to the Microsoft Office software, the OPK Tools CD will be updated and made available to download for system builders. The updated OPK Tools CD will also be orderable from the component replacement program on MOSB.

Microsoft is introducing Medialess License Kits (MLK) for selling 2007 Microsoft Office OEM licenses in the System Builder Channel. This helps you simplify your operations and provide a great out of the box experience for your customers.

 

 

 

Medialess License Kits contain suite specific product keys which enable end customers to "unlock" either Microsoft Office Basic 2007, Small Business 2007, or Professional 2007.

 

These kits also contain licensing information for the end user. Once you have installed the master image from your Preinstallation Kit* you will include the MLK in the box with the new PC. This kit does not contain any backup media. Customers can obtain backup media directly from Microsoft. Learn more below.

You can acquire the Medialess License Kits** from the same channel through which you currently purchase your Microsoft Office licenses. Contact your distributor for more information.

**Medialess License Kits need to be sold within 90 days of PC purchase.

 

 

 

 

Although the new Medialess License Kits do not contain media, customers who purchase 2007 Microsoft Office software with a new PC are eligible to receive backup media for up to 90 days after purchase. Customers can acquire backup media via the following methods:

 
  • Customers can go to http://www.microsoft.com/office
    /backup     to receive their recovery media directly from Microsoft.
  • Beginning in April, customers will be able to download a copy of their media from www.microsoft.com .
  • Customers can also use the Windows Vista Business backup feature to create a system backup.
  • System builders can reinstall 2007 Microsoft Office onto their machine.

Activation Assistant for Office

Action:  Partners must either download the Activation Assistant or tell customers to download the key for Office Trial.

Details:  The Microsoft Office Activation Trial Assistant allows you to retrieve a trial key that lets you try available 2007 Office release programs for 60 days. Without this, your customer cannot activate the trial.
